Tennessee State is closing in on the end of its 11-game road trip as they travel to Richmond, Ky. for an Ohio Valley Conference double header on Friday, Apr. 13. The games were moved up a day due to the potential of inclement weather on Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. ET / 2:00 p.m. CT. The Tigers dropped all four OVC games this past weekend, but have brought the tying run to the plate in their final at bat in four out of its last six games.

Whitney Ennis reached in all five contests last week as she went 7-for-12 at the plate for a .583 batting average. Ennis entered the contest in the third inning at No. 8 Tennessee to earn a walk at the plate and followed with three hits at Tennessee Tech. The senior recorded two hits in her final two plate appearances and continued with a 3-for-3 performance in game one at Jacksonville State, giving her a hit in five consecutive plate appearances. Game one at JSU also marked the first three hit game of her career. Ennis added a single in the final game of the series versus JSU. During the week, Ennis raised her batting average 101 points, to a .255 average. Maddison Clark clocked her second home run of the season in game two at Tennessee Tech.

EKU enters as the OVC leaders in home runs with 49. The Colonels have also ripped 49 doubles to amass a .494 slugging percentage on top of their .277 team batting average. Paige Murphy, Hannah Clark and Destinee Lizzmore lead the power charge combining for 29 bombs and 30 doubles. Murphy is the Ohio Valley Conference leader in batting average at .432 and is second in home runs with 12. Murphy also tops EKU with 39 runs, 35 RBI, 23 walks, 15 stolen bases, a .856 slugging percentage and a 533 on base percentage. Lizzmore is the OVC leader in doubles with 13 to go along with 37 runs, seven dingers, 25 RBI, while batting .358. Clark (.288) is second on the squad with 10 round-trippers and 34 runs batted in, while smacking eight doubles. In the circle, the Colonels rely on a four-person staff, led by Mollie Paulick’s 16 starts and 28 appearances. Paulick is 9-5 with a save, a 2.52 ERA and has 87 strikeouts in 89.0 innings. Murphy McRoberts and Samantha Reynoso have appeared in 18 games, while Tori Peterson has worked in 13. McRoberts is 6-4 with a 3.41 ERA in 51.1 innings, while Reynoso has tossed 47.0 frames compiling a 4-4 record and a 3.57 ERA. Peterson is 4-1 on the season with a 3.59 ERA in 41.0 innings.
