The Tigers dropped all five games during the co-hosted TSU/Belmont Invitational. Reese Weber stepped out as a bright spot for the Tigers. The sophomore finished the weekend going 5-for-13, scoring three runs, driving in four and hammering two home runs. The bombs were the first of her career. Weber also earned three walks and was hit once to compile a .529 on base percentage for the week. The second-year hit her first career home run in the opener on Friday against Rhode Island. Weber did not have to wait too long for her next dinger as she hit another solo shot on Saturday afternoon in a loss to Ball State. Weber became the first Tiger this season to record a three hit game. The Steelville, Mo. native went 3-for-4 and produced two separate RBI singles. Weber ended the week with a. 846 slugging percentage. Senior Kasey Cox also recorded her first career dinger as she ripped a screaming line drive over the centerfield fence. Pitcher Lauren Powell suffered a hard fought loss as she fanned nine batters while allowing three earned runs.

The Panthers rely on the veteran tandem of Jessica Wireman and Michelle Rogers in the circle. The duo has combined for 161.2 of the 188.2 innings pitched by the Panthers. Wireman is 8-4 with five saves has a 2.00 ERA and holding opponents to a .215 average. Wireman has been dominant with 100 strikeouts in 87.1 innings of work. Rogers is 10-3 with a 2.54 ERA, a .233 batting average against and has fanned 48 batters in 74.1 innings. EIU sports five batters over .300, including Haley Mitchell who is hitting .450 (36-of-80) and leads the offense with nine doubles, eight home runs and 34 RBI.
