NASHVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tennessee State softball team is still looking for its first win of the season as their comeback effort against North Dakota came up short. The Tigers dropped a 9-5 decision to the Fighting Hawks on Saturday afternoon at Tiger Field.

The Tigers spotted UND a 5-0 lead before scoring two runs in the third. Megan Huppee put the Tigers on the board after touching home on a wild pitch. Sarah Snell made the score 5-2 with an infield single, plating Maddison Clark.

After North Dakota added a run in the fifth, Snell and Clark teamed up for another run. Snell flew out to right field, giving Clark time to tag and score the Tigers third run of the game.

Emma Colegrove would get TSU within one on a two-run double in the sixth, bringing home pinch runner Kierra Ware and Patton Akers, making the score 6-5. That’s as close as the Tigers as UND picked up a three-run home run in the seventh.
