Freeman Honored by College Sports Madness
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Kiarra Freeman was named to the College Sports Madness Preseason OVC All-Conference Second Team.
Freeman opened her career with a solid year batting .361 with 22 runs scored and 14 stolen bases. The marks were all second on the team and propelled her to a spot on the Ohio Valley Conference All-Newcomer Team.
The Knoxville native entered the TSU record books as she registered the seventh highest batting average in a season. The sophomore recorded the fifth highest amount of hits, 53, for a single season in school history.
“This is a great honor for Kiarra,” head coach Jeff Dabney said. “She did very well at the plate and had a great freshman season, being named to the All-Freshman team last year. Coming back this year, it is expected of her to step it up and take it to another level. We’re just proud she was able to be named to the Preseason College Sports Madness All-OVC Team.”
This marks the third consecutive year the Tigers have placed a player on the College Sports Madness Preseason team. Tedra Alford was named to the team in 2012, while Shea Morris was named in 2013.
