Sunday, February 26, 2012

Fayetteville, Ark. - Tennessee State dropped their final game of the University of Arkansas Tournament to Northwestern State on Sunday morning. The Demons used a seven-run fourth inning to spark an 8-0 six inning win.

TSU falls to 4-5 on the season as NSU moves to 3-10.

The Demons Kelee Grimes stifled the Tigers offensive attack with nine strikeouts while throwing a no-hitter. Savannah Gutierrez was the lone Tiger to reach base, as she was hit by a pitch with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Northwestern State took advantage of four Tiger miscues and added four hits to produce the decisive inning. Pitcher Shea Morris (3-2) was tagged for five runs, four earned, on two hits, two walks and a hit batter.

Olivia Gamache threw the final three innings allowing three runs, two earned, on six hits and one walk. Gamache and Morris each struck out three batters.
