Softball fall exhibition season set to begin

Nashville, Tenn. --- The Tennessee State University's softball team announced its six game fall exhibition schedule. The Tigers will host a double header against Motlow College on Friday, September 23rd at Tiger Field. Game one is slated to begin at four p.m. with game two starting at 6 p.m.

The Tigers return to action when they host Vol State and Lindsey Wilson College in the Tiger Fall Classic, on Sunday, September 25th. Game one against Vol State will begin at 1 p.m. and game two begins at 3 p.m. against Lindsey Wilson.

On Sunday, October 16th, the women will travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala. to compete in the Alabama Fall Brawl. The Tigers will go up against the University of North Georgia, beginning at 11:30 a.m., and the University of Alabama at 3:30 p.m.

The Tigers will conclude their fall schedule by facing Lipscomb University on Thursday, October 27th.  The double header will begin at 6 p.m. with the second game starting at 8 p.m.

TSU will have a mix of experience and talent for the upcoming 2012 season.  The team features nine returning players (three seniors, three juniors, and three sophomores), two transfers, and five freshmen.

Last year, junior Tedra Alford led the team in batting average, hits, runs, total bases, and also had a fielding percentage of .945

The softball team's regular season starts on Saturday, February 18th, 2012 when they travel to Montgomery, Ala. to face Savannah State in the Alabama State Hornet Classic. First pitch is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
