NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee State softball team is set to close the 2003 regular season with four Ohio Valley Conference home games. The Tigers will play Austin Peay at 4 p.m. in a single game before hosting defending league Eastern Kentucky in a three-game series this weekend. The Tigers enter the final homestand with an 8-30 overall record and 4-13 OVC mark. TSU played its final road games on Tuesday in Murfreesboro, losing the first game 5-0 and 8-0 in the second game. In the second game, the Tigers were held hitless in the five-inning contest. TSU will look to get its offense uncranked. The Tigers have scored just two runs in the past two games and have suffered four straight shutouts. The Tigers are hitting .182 as a team. Junior catcher Angela Huebner is hitting .313 and also leads team with six home runs and 16 RBI. Four pitchers have seen mound duty this season for the Tigers. Junior Alana Thomas, has come back from an early season broken jaw and picked up three wins and has a team low .292 earned run average. Austin Peay handed the Tigers a pair of losses last week in Clarksville. TSU and EKU will be meeting for the first time this season.
