BOWLING GREEN, Ky. --- Tennessee State scored two runs in the top of the eighth inning and then held on to defeat Western Kentucky 4-2 and gain a split with the host Hilltoppers Thursday night. WKU won the first game 5-0. The Tigers had four consecutive singles to grab the lead in extra innings. TSU had taken a 2-1lead into the seventh inning, but committed a pair of errors to allow WKU to tie the contest. Justine Jontz picked up the win in relief after throwing no-hit ball for three innings. Alana Thomas, who started the game, came back to the mound in the eighth to record the save. Angela Huebner was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI while Misty Adfield had two hits and drove home one run. In the first game, Western scored twice in the first inning and three times in the third. Adrienne Lathrop tossed the five-hit shutout for the Hilltoppers. WKU managed just six hits its own in the game. The Tigers return to Ohio Valley Conference play by hosting Eastern Illinois in three game series this weekend.
