NASHVILLE --- Tennessee State's final games in the Winthrop Tournament were rained out and the Tigers will now turn their attention to hosting Big 10 Conference member Purdue University Monday afternoon in a doubleheader. The Tigers will be returning home to play just their second home date of the season. TSU went 1-2 in the Winthrop Tourney in Rock Hill, S.C., opening with a 2-1 victory over Morgan State before dropping decisions to Providence (7-0) and host Winthrop (8-0). Saturday's second game scheduled with Rutgers and Sunday's games were all called due to rain. TSU will be hosting the Big 10 Conference Boilermakers for the first time. Purdue is making the trip, coming from Louisville where the team split a Saturday doubleheader with the Lady Cardinals. Purdue dropped the first game 2-0 before coming back to take a 9-3 win in the second game. Purdue is 11-12 on the season. TSU returned late Saturday night. The team held practice Sunday evening on their home field. Purdue worked out at TSU earlier in the afternoon. The Tigers (3-12) will make their second trip of the season to Chattanooga on Wednesday for a pair of games. TSU played in a tournament at Chattanoogas earlier this month. TSU opens Ohio Valley Conference play with a three-game series next weekend against Tennessee-Martin.
