Tennessee State University Hosts First-Ever OVC Academic Summit

NASHVILLE --- Tennessee State University served as the host of the first-ever Ohio Valley Conference Academic Summit on June 14. Nearly 80 representatives from the 12 OVC schools were on campus to discuss different topics related to athletics, academics and compliance.

“We were so excited to have our OVC partners here,” said Dr. Alisa Mosley, Tennessee State Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs. “The whole notion about success of student-athletes is paramount at TSU, as well as in the conference. Having these opportunities to really discuss some of the issues that really keep us up at night – eligibility, certification and the like – they don’t feel as arduous when we’re doing it as a group.”

The summit ran from 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and included individuals from compliance, registrars, provosts, academic services and faculty athletic representatives.

The event was focused on certification, and also included continuing education, best practices, review of policies and procedures and real life case studies.

NCAA representatives Binh Nguyen, Carrie Leger, Jennifer Henderson and Karen Metzger led the group through a number of discussions both in small groups and with the entire group.
