NASHVILLE --- Tennessee State University is sponsoring the "Iron Tigers Lift-A-Thon" April 29-30 in the Gentry Center. TSU student-athletes will be competing in the event with sponsorships available from parents, friends, faculty, and staff. The competition will be held each day from 4-7 p.m. and is free and open to the public. It is the first time that TSU has hosted its own Lift-A-Thon. The Lift-A-Thon is designed to be a fund-raising event to measure the strength levels, of the student-athletes and to create a competitive spirit and camaraderie among the Tigers' sports teams, according to event coordinator Jake Cabell, TSU Associate Athletics Director for Internal Operations. TSU student-athletes will be soliciting support to compete in the event. A typical sponsorship can range from five cents to 20 cents per pound or a flat donation can be made for the student-athlete to participate. Each participating athlete will lift in the bench press, squat, and power clean. For information on the TSU Lift-A-Thon, telephone (615) 963-5922.
