CHARLESTON, Ill. --- The Tennessee State track teams find themselves in second and third place, respectively, after the opening day of the Ohio Valley Conference 2003 Indoor Track and Field Championships being hosted by Eastern Illinois.
The first day of competition concluded late Friday night and events will resume Saturday as the two champions will be determined.
The Tigerbelles, seeking their second straight league title, scored 41.5 to trail first day leader Southeast Missouri's 48 points. Eastern Kentucky is third with 25 points, followed by EIU 23, Morehead State and Austin Peay 18, Murray State 8.5, Tennessee-Martin 8, and Tennessee Tech 7.
The Tigers scored 27 points in the med's field. Host EIU scored 58, seven points ahead of Southeast's 51. Murray State is fourth with 24, followed by Eastern Kentucky 19 and Morehead State 6.
