STARTING LINE: The Tennessee State men’s and women’s track and field teams kick off the 2019 season at the Purdue Fred Wilt Open Saturday morning at Purdue's Lambert Fieldhouse. This marks the first time in seven seasons that TSU has opened the indoor season at Purdue, as the Tigers have opened the past six seasons at the Vanderbilt Open. Admission is free.

THE FIELD: This year’s Fred Wilt Open field includes (4) Tennessee State, Calumet College of St. Joseph, Northern Illinois and Northern Colorado.

LAST TIME OUT: Tennessee State unofficially opened the 2019-20 season with the annual Blue and White Meet on Nov. 13. Freshman Aristotle Huffman won the 55m and 4x200m on the men’s side, while seniors Amani Taylor and Grenetria Shell posted victories in the shot put and the 55m hurdles for the second year in a row.

UP NEXT: TSU hosts the Ed Temple Classic Jan. 5, 2019 at the Gentry Center. The meet will serve as TSU’s lone home meet of the season.
