STARTING LINE: The Tennessee State men’s and women’s track and field team will stay in state and travel to the University of Memphis to compete in the Memphis Invitational.

LAST TIME OUT: At the Georgia Tech Invitational on April 19-20, Amani Taylor and Mikayla Thompson both earned second place finishes in field events for the Tigerbelles. Taylor was the first to finish near the top in the discus throw with a mark of 44.32m. Thompson placed eighth (38.69). Thompson nabbed her second-place finish in the shot put with a throw of 14.51m.
For the Flying Tigers, Ashley Bailey burned around the track to a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 53.13. R’Lazon Brumfield placed fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 14.96 and Michael Willingham Jr. showed his strength in the discus with a mark of 45.44 to finish in fourth.
RANKINGS: R'Lazon Brumfield ranks 19th in the NCAA in the triple jump (15.85m) and is tied for 34th in the long jump (7.65m).
OUTDOOR SCHEDULE: TSU has competed in four of five outdoor meets this season. The Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Championship is scheduled for May 9-11 in Cape Girardeau, Mo. Friday is the last remaining outdoor meet in the state of Tennessee (Memphis Invitational – Memphis).
