NASHVILLE — Two outdoors meets in the 2019 season have resulted in the same ending for sophomore R'Lazon Brumfield: Ohio Valley Conference Field Athlete of the Week.
This award marks back-to-back for the Jacksonville, Fla. native. Brumfield placed first in the long jump at the Vanderbilt Black and Gold Invitational. The jump by Brumfield reached a mark of 24-07.75, which is first in the OVC and ranks 23rd NCAA East Region.
In the Yellow Jacket Invitational at Georgia Tech on March 16, Brumfield finished second with a leap of 52-00.0 in the triple jump, which is the top spot in the OVC this season and the NCAA East Region. The mark ranked second in the nation this year.
Brumfield also won back-to-back OVC Field Athlete of the Week honors in the indoor season in the Vanderbilt Opener and Ed Temple Classic.
