Brumfield Awarded OVC Field Athlete of the Week

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. --- In his second season with the Flying Tigers, R’Lazon Brumfield earned his fourth Ohio Valley Conference Field Athlete of the Week award, announced by the league office Wednesday.

Brumfield, a native of Jacksonville, Fla. was awarded the first weekly Field Athlete of the Week award of the 2018-19 indoor season for his performances at the Vanderbilt Opener and Ed Temple Classic.  The sophomore recorded a pair of top 2 finishes, winning the triple jump with a mark of 50-08.75 at the Vanderbilt Opener. He was the top Division I finisher in the long jump at VU. His leap of 24-08.50 is the best in the OVC and the NCAA. Brumfield won the long jump at the Ed Temple Classic (50-07.5) and took second in the long jump (23-0).

Brumfield and the Flying Tigers return to action Saturday, Jan. 12 at UAB’s Vulcan Invitational in Birmingham, Alabama.
