COOKEVILLE, Tenn. --- Day two action at the Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship wrapped up on Friday with Tennessee State scoring six points. The Flying Tigers are in seventh place entering the third and final day on Saturday.

  • Freshman Michael Willingham Jr. earned fifth place for four points thanks to a throw of 51.71m (169’8”) in the javelin.
  • Fellow freshman Miles Archie added to TSU’s point total with two points on a seventh place finish in the long jump. Archie reached 6.74m (22’1.5”).
  • In prelim action, James Faison turned in the day’s fastest times in the 200m (21.15) and the 400m (47.88) to advance to the finals.
  • Isaiah Olige also is advancing in two events. His 400m hurdles time of 53.05 was the fastest on Friday, while his time of 14.65 in the 110m hurdles earned him second in the prelims.
  • In the 200m, R’Lazon Brumfield and David Jones are moving on to the finals. In the prelims, Brumfield clocked in at 21.36 for second, while Jones finished in 21.73 for fifth.
  • Two more Flying Tigers, Jamario Scott and Chris Givens will run in tomorrow’s 400m finals. In the prelims, Scott took fourth (48.40), while Givens took fifth (48.80).
  • Desmond Tanner earned sixth in the prelims of the 400m hurdles in 55.99, while Thomas Mosley picked up eighth in the 800m in 1:55.41. Both will compete in tomorrow’s finals.
  • The Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship concludes tomorrow.
