Men's Track and Field Stellar Again at Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational


MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. --- James Faison and R’Lazon Brumfield won individual events to guide the Tennessee State men’s track and field team on Saturday on the final day of the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Faison earned the top time in the 400m on the day, clocking in at 48.57.  The reigning Ohio Valley Conference Track Athlete of the Year also set a personal record in the 200m in 21.30 to earn second place.

A day after taking second in the long jump, Brumfield capped the first outdoor meet by taking first in the triple jump. His mark of 15.20m (49’10.5”) was more than a foot further than the second-place finisher.

TSU also received fourth place finishes in the 110m hurdles from Jemarruse Amos (14.70) and in the 4x100m relay from Faison, David Jones, Jamario Scott and Brumfield.

The Flying Tigers are back in action for the Weems Baskin Invitational in Columbia, S.C. on March 23-24.
