STARTING LINE: The Tennessee State men’s and women’s track and field teams head south to Birmingham, Ala. for a pair of meets at the Birmingham CrossPlex. The Tigerbelles and Flying Tigers will compete in the Blazer Invitational on Friday, Jan. 12 and the Vulcan Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 13.

LAST TIME OUT: Tennessee State hosted the Ed Temple Classic at the Gentry Center on Sunday in the lone home meet of the season. The Tigerbelles won six individual events on the day highlighted by wins in the high jump and triple jump for Cyra Beard. TSU also dominated the throwing events on the women’s side with Mikayla Thompson winning the shot put and Daimer Gordon taking the top spot in the weight throw.

For the Flying Tigers, TSU won a total of four events at the Ed Temple Classic, including three on the track. James Faison won the 200m with Thomas Mosley taking the 800m and Jemarruse Amos winning the 55m hurdles.

OVC AWARDS: TSU has earned three Ohio Valley Conference weekly awards this indoor season – one on the women’s side and two on the men’s side.
