Quamel Prince finished 18th in the 800m


LEXINGTON, Ky. --- Tennessee State track and field seniors Quamel Prince (Nashville, Tenn.) and Kyle Washington-Scott (St. Louis, Mo.) competed at the NCAA East Preliminary Round on Friday as the Flying Tigers wrapped up the 2016-17 season.

Prince, an 18-time Ohio Valley Conference medalist, finished his collegiate career on Friday in the quarterfinals with an 18th-place 800m time of 1:49.62.

Running in the second heat of the day, Prince completed the first lap in 53.34 and was in seventh place. He moved up in the final 400m to take fifth in the heat and 18th overall.

After fouling on his first throw in the shot put, Washington-Scott reached 14.98m (49’1.75”) on his second attempt. The distance earned Washington-Scott 42nd place overall on the day. The senior from St. Louis, Mo. fouled on his third try to cap his season. 

The transfer from Neosho Community College recently completed his third semester with the Flying Tigers, winning four Ohio Valley Conference medals in that time.
