STARTING LINE: In the final tune up before the OVC Championship, the Tennessee State men’s and women’s track and field teams travel to Louisville, Ky. for the Lenny Lyles / Clark Wood Invitational. The event gets underway with the hammer throw on Friday, April 28. The rest of the events are scheduled for Saturday, April 29.

THE FIELD: Tennessee State, Louisville, Bellarmine, Cincinnati, DePaul, Eastern Kentucky, Illinois State, Southern Illinois, Western Kentucky and Middle Tennessee.

LAST TIME OUT: TSU competed in the Georgia Tech Invitational last weekend in Atlanta. For the men, Kareem Nicholas (Atlanta, Ga.) took fourth in the triple jump and long jump, while Kyle Washington-Scott (St. Louis, Mo.) secured fourth in the hammer throw. On the women’s side, Amber Hughes (Atlanta, Ga.) won the triple jump, and Cyra Beard (Jackson, Tenn.) earned third in the high jump.

RANKED IN THE NATION: This outdoor season, TSU student-athletes rank in the top 40 in the nation in four events.
