STARTING LINE: With the OVC Championship less than a month away, the Tennessee State men’s and women’s track and field teams head to Atlanta, Ga. for the Georgia Tech Invitational on April 21-22. Friday’s action begins with the hammer throw at 11 a.m. The first event on Saturday is the high jump at 11 a.m.

THE FIELD: TSU will compete against student-athletes from Georgia Tech, Syracuse, St. John's, Rutgers, UAB, Ole Miss, VCU, Jackson State, Georgia Southern, Austin Peay, East Tennessee State, Western Kentucky, USC Upstate and Lipscomb, among others. 

LAST TIME OUT: TSU had a number of individuals compete at the APSU Invitational last weekend. Kyle Washington-Scott (St. Louis, Mo.) shined for the men’s team, earning a pair of first place finishes. His throw of 46.96m (154’1”) in the discus won him the top spot, while his mark of 17.25m (56’7.25”) in the shot put was also the best on the day. Chris Jackson (Clarksville, Tenn.) posted the day’s top time in the 110m hurdles in 14.83. For the women, Kayla Pryor (Ellenwood, Ga.) bested the field in the 400m hurdles in 1:03.00.

RANKED IN THE NATION: This outdoor season, TSU student-athletes rank in the top 40 in the nation in five events.
