Nicholas, Prince earn OVC Weekly Awards

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. --- Following a strong opening performance to the outdoor season, Tennessee State men’s track and field's Kareem Nicholas (Atlanta, Ga.) earned adidas Ohio Valley Conference Field Athlete of the Week while Quamel Prince (Nashville, Tenn.) took home adidas OVC Co-Track Athlete of the Week.

Nicholas, a senior from Atlanta, Ga., won the long jump at the Weems Baskin Invitational with a distance of 7.66m (25’1.75”). It is the best distance by an OVC student-athlete this season and is good for seventh in the nation. Nicholas also earned second place in the triple jump with a league-best mark of 15.18m (49’9.75”) – the 25th best distance in Division I this season.

Prince secured second in the 800m at the Weems Baskin Invitational after clocking in at 1:48.65.  It is the top time in the OVC and fifth in the nation. As a member of the 4x400m relay team, Prince helped the Flying Tigers place ninth with an OVC-best time of 3:18.84.

The next action for the Flying Tigers is the UNF Invite on April 8 in Jacksonville, Fla.
