TSU Track and Field to Host Blue and White Invitational

NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee State men’s and women’s track and field teams will host their annual Blue and White meet on Wednesday, Nov. 16, at the Gentry Center to unofficially open the 2016-17 indoor season.

The squads will be broken up into even teams to compete in a number of field events before hitting the track. Field events will get underway at 4 p.m. with track events starting at 6:15 p.m.

On the men’s side, the Flying Tigers bring back 11 athletes who have won Ohio Valley Conference medals in their careers including Quamel Prince (800m, 4x400m relay, 4x100m relay), Jemarruse Amos (110m hurdles), Kyle Washington-Scott (shot put), Malik Davis (4x100m relay), Malik Wright (4x400m relay, 200m), James Stewart (4x100m relay), Kareem Nicholas (long jump, triple jump), Roc-M Nesbitt (shot put), Jontue McDowell (4x400m relay), Marc McCoy (long jump, triple jump) and Kenji Anderson (4x400m relay).

For the Tigerbelles, which won the 2016 OVC Indoor Championship, eight OVC medal winners return in Mikayla Banks (4x100m relay), Cyra Beard (high jump, triple jump), I’mani Davis (high jump), Raven Davis, (4x100m relay), Amber Hughes (triple jump, long jump, 100m hurdles, 4x100m relay, 200m, 55m hurdles, 4x400m relay), Christian Pryor (4x400m relay, 800m), Kayla Pryor (400m, 4x400m relay) and Crystal Williams (55m hurdles, 100m hurdles).

The official start to the season is Dec. 3 when the teams travel to Vanderbilt for the Vanderbilt Opener.
