STARTING LINE: Tennessee State University hosts the Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship at Edward S. Temple Track as the Flying Tigers look to cap a successful spring with the program’s first OVC title. The Flying Tigers have won four OVC Athlete of the Week Awards this season highlighted by Kareem Nicholas (Atlanta, Ga.) taking Field Athlete of the Week twice.

CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY: The TSU men’s track and field program is seeking its first OVC Track and Field Championship title. TSU captured sixth place in last year’s event with 34 points.
AT LAST YEAR’S EVENT: Eastern Illinois won last year’s team title with 233.5 points. Individually for the Flying Tigers, Quamel Prince (Nashville, Tenn.) took second place in the 800m (1:48.41), while Daryl Rice (Belleville, Ill.) also medaled in the high jump, capturing third by clearing the bar at 2.04m (6’8.25”).
AMONG THE OVC’S BEST: The Flying Tigers have turned in a number of performances that rank in the top two of the OVC this outdoor season.
