STARTING LINE: Following seven indoor events, the Tennessee State men’s track and field team begins the outdoor portion of its schedule with the Bulls Invitational on March 17-18 in Tampa, Fla.
ABOUT THE FIELD: The 26-team field includes the likes of South Florida, Marquette, Louisville, Rutgers, Princeton, Lehigh, Manhattan and Florida State, among others.
SCHEDULE: Thursday’s events begin at noon with the women’s hammer throw. On Friday, the first event, which is the men’s javelin, will get underway at 9 a.m.
LAST TIME OUT: The Flying Tigers are coming off a third-place finish at the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championship on Feb. 26-27. Quamel Prince (Nashville, Tenn.) won the 800m (1:49.80) as TSU’s lone gold medalist. Winning silver medals were Shawn Harris (Memphis, Tenn.) in the 55m hurdles (7.73), Malik Wright (Tampa, Fla.) in the 200m (21.88), Marc McCoy (Tampa, Fla.) in the triple jump (15.25m) and Kyle Washington-Scott (St. Louis, Mo.) in the shot put (16.68m). Shaquille Cragwall (Lebanon, Tenn.) also took bronze in the high jump (1.98m).
