Tigers Resume Indoor Schedule at MTSU

Tiger Track and Field head back to MTSU for competition.

Nashville, Tenn. – The Tennessee State University men's track and field team will head to Murfreesboro, Tenn. to compete in the Valentine Invitational hosted by Middle Tennessee State on Saturday, February 14th.

The meet is scheduled to begin with the women's weight throw at 9:30 a.m. followed by the the first running event, mile run, set for a 12 p.m. start.

Five other teams are entered to compete -  Middle Tennessee State, Milligan College, Southeast Louisiana, UT Chattanooga, and Western Kentucky.

This will be the third competition at MTSU on the season for the Flying Tigers after running in the MTSU Christmas Invitational (12/06/08) and the MTSU Blue Raider Invitational (1/24/09). Collectively between both meets, the Flying Tigers gathered eight top-three finishes.

Trenton Britt, Darreal Beal and Nathaniel Moore lead the Tigers who have garnered seven first place finish in individual competitions.

Britt has three first place finishes on the season including one at the MTSU Blue Raider Invitational (46'09.25"). According to records accumulated in 2003, Britt was declared the school record holder in the triple jump after placing fourth at the MTSU Chirstmas Invitational with a leap of 48'06.00". In the event, Britt is also ranked number one on the season in the OVC.

Beal is fresh off his first win of the season in the long jump at the TSU Invite with a leap of 24'01.75". The distance currently sets him at the top of the this season's OVC Best List. Beal was also the top collegiate finisher in the event at the MTSU Blue Raider Invitational with a leap of 23'10.5". 

In the 400-meter dash, Moore has collected two first place finishes on the season including winning the event at the MTSU Blue Raider Invitational with his current fastest time, 49.08 seconds. The clocking puts him in second on the OVC Best list this year.

The Flying Tigers will take next weekend off before heading to Charleston, Ill. to compete in the 2009 OVC Indoor Track and Field Championship on February 27-28th.
