Men's Track and Field Head to War Eagle Invitational

Nashville, Tenn. - The Tennessee State University men's track and field team will travel to Auburn, Ala. to participate in the War Eagle Invitational. The meet is hosted by Auburn University and is scheduled to begin on Friday (4/17) and end on Saturday (4/18) at Hutsell-Rosen Track.

The Flying Tigers head coach Kelly Carter returns to his alma mater. Carter was a three-time NCAA All-American, four-time All-Southeastern Conference and two-time Penn Relays Champion  at Auburn.

While most of the action takes place Saturday, Friday will feature women's heptathlon competition throughout the day, the men's and women's hammer throws beginning at 4:30 p.m., and special invitational 1500-meter races for the men and women at 7:15 p.m.

Saturday, field events begin at 10:30 a.m. CT, with running events slated to start at noon. The meet, which is free to the public, will run until approximately 7:30 p.m. CT.

Headlining the meet will be nationally ranked No. 16 Auburn women, No. 23 Auburn men, No. 4 Florida men, No. 13 Florida women, No. 7 Penn State, Alabama State, Florida A&M, Mississippi State, Alabama. Vanderbilt, UNC Charlotte, Troy, Middle Tennessee State, Alabama-Huntsville, and a host of national teams and world class athletes participating unattached.

Next, the Tigers will travel to Bowling Green, Ky. to compete in the WKU Invitational hosted by Western Kentucky on Saturday April 25th.
