Several Tigers Make Finals in Day One of OVC Indoor Championship

Charleston, Ill. – The Tennessee State University men's track and field team finished day one of the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championship with seven Flying Tigers making the finals in their event.

Darreal Beal scored for TSU finishing second in the long jump with a career best, 24'00.75". The distance medley team of Anes Koko (1200), Printence McMurtrey (400), Isaiah Marshall (800), and Phillip Myton (1600) grabbed fourth place overall in the event.

Koko and Marshall filled the last two spots of the open 800-meter dash to make the finals. Koko finished with a time of 1:57.96 and Marshall completed the race at 1:59.07.

Trenton Britt autmoatically qualified for the finals due to the numbers participating while Dwayne Johnson ran a 6.93 in the 60-meter dash to qualify. In the prelims of the 400-meter dash, Nathaniel Moore (51.01) and Isaiah Marshall (51.02) made the the cut to run in the finals. Julian Mallory also qualified for the scored finals running a 22.86 in the 200-meter dash.

After day one, the Tigers sit in fourth place in the team with 15 points. Southeast Missouri completes the first day in first place with 70 points, followed by Eastern Illimois (38 points) and Eastern Kentucky (29 points). The remaining finals of the running events along with the triple jump will being held tomorrow (2/28).
