CHARLESTON, Ill. --- The Tennessee State women's track and field team wrapped up its indoor season with a fourth-place finish at the 2004 Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championships over the weekend. Southeast Missouri State recorded 160 points, while Eastern Kentucky finished in second with 108 points. Eastern Illinois took third with 97 points. Despite coming into the event heavily favored as the two-time champions, the Tigerbelles only managed to come away with three golds. The 4x400 relay team of freshmen Jocelyn Gardiner and Porsche Buckner, sophomore Rebekah Robinson and junior Jennifer Lawson came away victorious with a time of 3:50.68. Individually, junior Shaniqua Hector was the top finisher in the long jump with a measurement of 5.73m (18-09.75) while classmate Ashley Byrd won the triple jump with a measurement of 11.82m (38-09.50). Lawson came away with top-three finishes in the 60m (7.71) and the 200m (24.95). The Tigerbelles will open their 2004 outdoor schedule on the road in Florida at the Florida A&M Invitational scheduled for March 12-13.
