NASHVILLE---The TSU men's and women's cross country squads competed in the 2002 Ohio Valley Conference Championships on Saturday. The race, hosted by Morehead State, was held at the Sunny Brook Golf Course in Morehead, Ky. The women's eighth-place overall finish was led by Monique Demmons' time of 19:49 and 31st place finish. Crystal Ewell (20:32) and Juanita Thomas (20:36) completed the 5,000-meter race in 40th and 41st place, respectively. Kristin Bennett clocked in at 21:46 landing her in 52nd place. Rounding out the TSU runners were Rae'Ven Richards (57th, 23:01) and Makeya Miller (58th, 23:30). On the men's side, the Tigers ended up in the ninth place for the 8,000-meter event. The top finisher for TSU was Brandon Ballard (6:08) in 59th place. Rounding out the field in 60th through 64th place were Julius Williams (6:17), Joshua Love (6:30), Riley Walker (6:30), Hugh Foster (6:34), and Trenton Hudson (33:36), respectively. Eastern Illinois men secured the team crown for the third consecutive year while the Eastern Kentucky women claimed the title on the women's side. Kyle O'Brien from Eastern Illinois and Southeast Missouri's Lindsey Zeiler captured the individual championship titles. ###
