NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee State men's track team will take another week off from meet action as they shoot for another improved performance in the TSU Invite scheduled for Feb. 2 in the Gentry Center. The Tigers competed as a full team in the Fourth Annual Ed Temple Classic on Jan. 12 as more than 500 athletes gathered in the Gentry Center for the event. The Tigers were part of a quad meet and took second place honors. Alabama State won the quad meet with a score of 139.66. The Tigers scored 91, edging Alabama A&M by one point for the second spot. Grambling was also in the hunt, finishing fourth at 88.33. The Tigers effort was led by sprinter Nick Horton who ran to first place in the 400-mter dash with a time of 49.37 seconds. Jerome Harris was third with a time of 50.34 seconds. Michael Smith netted third in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 7.84 seconds. Pedro Barnes was fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.82 seconds. The TSU Invite will be the second consecutive year for the event in the Gentry Center.
