Men's Tennis Moves to 4-3 on the Season with Loss to UND

NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee State men's tennis team fell 7-0 to North Dakota late Friday afternoon at Hadley Park.

"I am extremely proud of the young men today," said Interim Assistant Coach Kyle Burton. "They competed from the first to the last point of the match. From 1-7 everyone held their own and played with resilience and passion. We have a lot of positives to take away from today’s match that can help not only me as a coach but the players as we go into next weeks match fired up and ready to dominate."

The Fighting Hawks worked their way through doubles play clinching the point. TSU put up its most successful fight as a collective team during the doubles portion of the match as the duos on courts one and two, finished just two points behind North Dakota.

Moving into singles, Juan Carlos Rojas Antezana served as the sole Tiger to win a set versus the Fighting Hawks. The freshman from Peru defeated Davide Callegari in the first set, 6-4 at No. 4. Rojas Antezana continued to prove difficult for UND as Callegari edged by winning set two, 7-5 and the super tiebreaker, 11-9.

The Tigers take a trip to nearby Middlle Tennessee for a 3:30 p.m. match on Sunday, Feb. 24.
