Tigers Play Trojans in Day Two of Showdown

Murfreesboro, Tenn. --- The Tennessee State men’s tennis team continued play in the Coach Dick Lalance Showdown in Murfreesboro, Tennessee against the Troy Trojans Sept. 30 at 10 a.m.­ 

TSU began doubles play with Grant Maddox and Pavle Popovic losing in the No. 1 slot 6-2. The Tigers would bounce back with an 6-3 No. 2 win from the team of Tanishq Mahendru and Shashank Nautiyal.

In singles, Pavle Popovic carried out the only win for the Tigers, defeating Troy’s Sam Bird in the No. 4 slot 7-5, 6-2. Three other Tigers had tough matches before falling to three of Troy’s veteran team, Maddox playing at No. 1, Nautiyal playing at No. 2, Mahendru playing at No. 3 and Popvic playing at No. 4.
