The Tennessee State men’s tennis team will take on Austin Peay on Friday Mar. 17 in the Hadley Park Bubble in the first conference match of the season for the Tigers.

After falling behind in doubles, the Tigers responded with four singles victories to pick up the victory against their NAIA opponent Rhodes.

TSU earned one point in doubles play thanks to the effort of Kyle Burton and Tom Parant at No. 2. The duo picked up an 8-4 win in their matchup with Sean Hogan and Andrew Morton.

Parant was also victorious in his No. 3 singles match versus Ritwik Chatterjee, securing a 2-6, 6-4, 10-5 win. Shashank Nautiyal went on to win at No. 4 6-1, 6-2.

Burton cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 final score at No. 5, and Grant Maddox completed the win with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Daniel Olivier at No. 6 singles.

Austin Peay is 3-8 this season, with the last win coming against Lindsey Wilson on Feb. 25. Alex Kartsonis has a team high five singles wins. The Governors defeated the Tigers last season 6-1.

The Tigers will host Eastern Illinois on April 1 at Hadley Park.
