SETTING THE STAGE: The Tennessee State men’s tennis team will continue its spring season this weekend against McKendree and Quincy University.

LAST TIME OUT: The Tigers took on Middle Tennessee State University, in a match that saw the Tigers handed a 6-1 loss on Jan. 16. In doubles action, the Tigers’ pairing of Kyle Burton and Tom Parant went head-to-head with Max Rauch and Luis Morillo Diaz in a competitive match, winning by a 6-3 score.

In singles action Burton would be the lone Tiger to win defeating Miguel Negre 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-6). Burton went undefeated in both his matches to open the spring season. Parant took a tough loss in three sets to nationally ranked opponent Luis Diaz.

ABOUT MCKENDREE: Mckendree comes into the match with a 3-2 record this season. The Bearcats have dropped its last two matches to Washburn and Drury. Maico Egbers and Ben Muller take the top two singles spots for the Bearcats. Mckendree is led by second year head coach Mandeep Yadav.

ABOUT QUINCY: The Hawks come in 0-3 with losses against Emporia State, Missouri Valley and Saint Louis. Brian Holzgrafe enters his first season at the helm for the Hawks.

UP NEXT: The Tigers will host Mississippi Valley State on Feb. 18 at 8 a.m.
