OPENING SERVE: The Tennessee State men’s tennis team continues its five-match homestand with three matches in two days at Hadley Park. The Tigers host Morehead State on Friday, March 25, before taking on EKU and Fisk on Saturday, March 26.

LAST TIME OUT: Daniel Bernal (Bogota, Colombia) won his No. 1 singles match to highlight TSU’s effort in a 6-1 home loss to Jacksonville State on March 19 at Hadley Park. Grant Maddox (Greenbrier, Tenn.) also played a close match at No. 5 singles before falling in three sets.

ABOUT MOREHEAD STATE: Off to a 2-0 start in OVC play, the Eagles are coming off a loss at No. 17 Kentucky on Tuesday. Ritchie Kruunenberg and Gabriel Ruiz, who play No. 1 and No. 2 singles respectively, lead Morehead State with four singles victories.

ABOUT EASTERN KENTUCKY: The Colonels are 12-9 on the season and 2-0 in Ohio Valley Conference play with 7-0 victories over Austin Peay and Murray State. Florian Graskamp leads EKU with a 20-10 singles record with a majority of his matches coming at No. 6 singles.

LAST SEASON VS. OPPONENTS: Morehead State defeated TSU, 6-0, in last year’s meeting in Morehead, Ky. Kyle Burton (Madison, Tenn.) and Grant Maddox (Greenbrier, Tenn.) forced three sets in their singles losses. In a road match at EKU last spring, the Colonels won all six singles matches in straight sets in a 6-0 TSU loss. TSU did not face Fisk last season.

OVC PRESEASON POLL: TSU was selected to finish 10th in the Ohio Valley Conference preseason poll. Eastern Kentucky and Tennessee Tech tied for first in the poll, followed by Belmont and Jacksonville State in a two-way tie for third place. Austin Peay, Morehead State, SIUE, Eastern Illinois, Murray State and TSU rounded out the poll.
