Tennis Opens First Spring Season Practice on Thursday

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- The Tennessee State men’s and women’s tennis team opened up its first day back on campus with two-a-day practice in preparation for the fast-approaching season.

The men’s team returns three and adds four for the 2015-16 season, while the women’s team returns two and adds six.

“We’re very excited about the season,” said head coach Monroe Walker III. “This is my first full recruiting class so I’m really looking forward to the season.”

After a long break, the teams are getting back into routine and focusing on getting into top shape for the season.

“We’re doing lots of conditioning in the opening days coming off the break,” said Walker. “Some of the players didn’t have the opportunity to really play, so we’re really focusing on getting our timing down and building up that doubles chemistry.”

The teams will continue two-a-day practices through the rest of the week, taking advantage of their time before classes get into full swing.

Both the men’s and women’s team will open up their season on Feb. 19 when they head up to Ohio to face Dayton University.
