Tennis Opens Play at HBCU Classic
NASHVILLE, Tenn.  – The Tennessee State Tennis teams will open the fall season at the HBCU National Tennis Championships in Atlanta, Ga. The tournament will consist of three brackets of individual play in the men’s and women’s divisions and two brackets of doubles play in each division.
Daniel Bernal opens play at 4:30pm versus William Jones of Howard in the A Flight. Joe Daniels will be the first Tiger on the court at 9:00am as he takes on Kahai Hall of Morehouse in the B Flight. Jared Asher and Branden McClain will both face opponents from Stillman at 11:00am in Flight C. Asher squares off against Jose Pojasi, while McClain will battle Jelffrey Farias.
Victoria Haynes will compete in the B Flight at 10:00am versus Savannah State’s Angela Bonilla. In the C Flight, Attalah Eiland plays at 1:00pm against Brandi Nelson from Xavier (La.), while Trinity Randolph plays at 1:30pm versus Elysia Ortiz of Florida A&M.
In Doubles action, Bernal and Daniels team up to face North Carolina Centrals Fabrice George and Kyle Hairston. Asher and McClain will take on James Jackson and Carlos McYntre from Prairie View A&M. Haynes and Randolph will go up against the duo of Isabella Cubillos and Marijana Gjogievska from Bluefield State.
Thursday’s action is day one of the four day event.
