Stillman Wins Battle of the Tigers

NASHVIILE, Tenn. - Stillman University was too much for Tennessee State as the Tigers from Alabama defeated the Tigers from Nashivlle 7-0 in men's and women's tennis action Wednesday afternoon.

The #1 Doubles duo of Daniel Bernal and Branden McClain defeated Alexsandar Zobec and Luis Mendoza of Stillman 8-2, but TSU was unable to capture the doubles point.

Bernal put together a strong showing at #1 Singles vs. Janguen Lee dropping the first set in a tiebreaker 7-6. Lee closed out the match in set two 6-1.

McClain won five games against Vladyslav Zhyrov, but the sophomore ended up on the short end of the decision 6-3, 6-2.
The TSU women had their best success at #2 Singles as London Thomas kept it close against Nair Tolomeo before falling in straight sets 6-3, 6-4.

Belmont and the TSU women will go head-to-head on Thursday at 1 p.m. in Nashville before the Lady Tigers go on the road this weekend to Morehead State and Eastern Kentucky.

The men return to the court on Friday as they play host to Bradley at 12 p.m., before joining the women in Kentucky.
