2019-20 Men's Golf Year in Review

  • The 2019-20 Tennessee State Men’s Golf team had its season cut short due to the cancellation per the NCAA.
  • The Tigers competed in five events on the year, four in the fall and one in the spring.
  • TSU highlighted the year with a fifth place finish in a field of 17 teams at the Murray State Invitational (9/9-10/19).

Senior, Tyler Woods

  • Played in all five events, playing 15 rounds.
  • Finished with a 78.2 average per round.
  • Season’s low round of 69 came during the third round of the Murray State Invitational (9/10).
  • Set a 54-hole best score of 224 at the MSU Invite.
  • Best finish came at the Grover Page Classic, placing 42nd.

Senior, Landon Albert

  • Played in all five events, playing 15 rounds.
  • Tallied a 75.1 average per round.
  • Recorded three rounds under par.
  • Low score of the season (67) came in the first round of the MSU Invitational (9/9).
  • Posted season best 54-hole count of 216 at the MSU Invite.
  • Recorded an 11th place finish at the Skyhawk Fall Classic (9/30-10/1).

Sophomore, John Stokes

  • Participated in three events, playing in nine rounds.
  • Registered an 81.8 average per round.
  • Carded a season best 77 during the second round of the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate (10/14).
  • Season best 54-hole result of 241 came at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate.

Freshman, Lane Hooper

  • Played in all five events, playing 15 rounds.
  • Posted a 77.0 average as a freshman.
  • Recorded his lowest round (71) during the third round of the EKU Intercollegiate (9/15).
  • Best 54-hole result came in the final event of the shortened season posting a 230 at the Grover Page Classic (3/9-10).
  • The GPC result produced a 26th place finish, marking his highest placement.

Freshman, Kamren James

  • Played in all five tournaments, playing 15 rounds.
  • Finished with a 74.1 average per round.
  • Recorded three rounds under par and three at Even.
  • Best 54-hole event score of 210 came at the Murray State Invitational, including a season low 68 which came during the third round.
  • The MSU Invite tally produced the first-years first Top-10 finish, placing 8th.
  • Shot 3-under at the MSU Invitational (9/9-10) and 2-under at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate (10/14-15).

Freshman, Allen Stokes

  • Played in four events, playing in 12 rounds.
  • Totaled an 83.8 average per round.
  • Carded a season low 77 during the first round of the MSU Invitational (9/9).
  • The MSU Invite also produced a season best for a 54-hole event with a 242.
