JACKSON, Tenn. --- Scotty Hudson and Drew Owens put together two consistent rounds in Tennessee State’s start to the spring portion of their schedule. The duo recorded the top two amounts of pars for the field on Monday, with Hudson carding 26, one ahead of Owens 25.

Hudson (72-74=146) finished Monday at 2-over and sits just three strokes off the lead. Owens struggled in the first round with a 7-over, 79, but jumped 23 spots in the second round, moving into a tie for seventh by shooting a 3-under, 69. The Atlanta, Ga. products second round score tied for the best low outing of the day and was one of only six golfers to post an under-par score.

Rosario Falzone, playing as an individual, fired a 1-under, 71, during the afternoon session to bounce back after a first round 78. Falzone totaled 20 pars on the day and the third highest about of birdies with seven to place him in a tie for 10th heading into the final day.

Sam Gatlin matched Falzone in birdies on the day and contributed two scoring rounds for the Tigers with an 80 and a 75. Gatlin is tied for 30th with teammate Mikus Ming (79-77=156). Tyler Woods (83-82=165) round out the Tigers play with a pair of non-scoring rounds.

TSU started slow with a 21-over, 309, but charged back with a 7-over, 295, in the afternoon. The second round for the Tigers tied for the third best team score on Monday. The Big Blue is 17 strokes out of third place and just five strokes out of a top three finish.
