MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. – The Tennessee State men’s golf team finished 10th place at the 2015 Ohio Valley Conference golf championships. The Tigers (309-299-302=910) teamed for a 14-over, 302, on the final day at The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at The Shoals on the Par-72, 7,258 yard Fighting Joe course.
Eastern Kentucky claimed the team title by five strokes over Tennessee Tech, Belmont and Murray State, whom all tied for second. Bendon Caballero of UT Martin earned top honors by one stroke over 38th ranked Tomasz Anderson of Jacksonville State.
Andy Stout (83-81-74=238) scored for the Tigers for the first time over the three day event as he carded four birdies and eight pars. Stout averaged two putts per hole and hit 13-of-14 fairways and 16-of-18 greens.
Sophomore Todd McGill (77-70-75=222) claimed the highest finish for the Tigers, finishing 24th with a 3-over, 75 on the final day. Freshman Jermey Fultz (78-71-76=225) fired a 4-over, 76 and placed 31st in the field of 55 golfers.
Matt Campbell (75-78-77=230) posted the final scoring round for TSU with 10 fairways and 12 greens. Campbell took advantage of his short game as he hit a wedge to four feet on No. 10, a wedge to eight feet on No. 12 and an 8-iron to four feet on No. 14, all for birdies.
In his final OVC event, James Stepp (79-80-81=240) shot a non-scoring 81 on Sunday.
