The highlight of the day for the Tigers came on the par-5, 3rd. Senior Codie Welborn (76-75=151) hit the center of the fairway off the box with a 3-wood. Welborn stayed with the 3-wood for his second shot from 230-yars out and ended up six feet from the flag. The Murfreesboro native would covert the putt for eagle, marking his second in as many weeks. On the day, Welborn found 20 fairways and 29 greens.
Matt Campbell (79-76=155), competing in his first tournament of the year, recorded five birdies on the day and was six-for-six on sand saves. Campbell’s second shot from 133-yards on the par-4, 15th, lipped out, setting up a tap in birdie. On the par-4, 11th, Campbell used a 7-iron from 181 to reach the green. The junior would sink a 20-footer for bird.
