Men's golf travels to Paducah for Murray State Invitational

Nashville, Tenn. - The Tennessee State University men's golf team will hit the road to participate in the eighth annual Murray State Invitational on Monday, October 3rd with the final round being held on Tuesday, October 4th. This will be the first time that TSU will compete in the MSU Invitational since the 2008 season.

The tournament will be held at the Miller Memorial Golf Course in Paducah, Ky. The course measures 6,592 yards, and features a par-71 layout. The first 36 holes will be played on Monday, with the 18 remaining holes will be played on Tuesday.

Along with TSU, there will be 12 total teams competing which include four from the Ohio Valley Conference: host Murray State, Morehead State, UT Martin, and Tennessee Tech.  The rest of the field includes: Belmont, Brescia, Kentucky Wesleyan, Lewis, Lipscomb, Missouri Baptist, and Union Tennessee. 

The men are coming off their second consecutive win at the National Black College Hall of Fame Invitational, held last weekend in Atlanta, Ga.

TSU claimed the title by shooting a two round total of 571 (291-280). Jackson State (577) and Alabama State (584) rounded out the top three scores.

Freshman James Stepp finished first for the Tigers and second overall by shooting a total of 139 (73-66). Senior Cameron Scitern also had a strong showing by shooting a total of 141 (70-71).
