Tigers Place Eighth in Grover Page Classic

Jackson, Tenn.--- The Tennessee State University men’s golf team finished in eighth place in the Grover Page Classic hosted by the University of Tennessee at Martin. The Tigers finished with a final score of 33-over-par 609.


After a first round marked by two rain delays and only completing three holes of the second round before the third and final delay set in, the Grover Page Classic was shortened to only 36 holes. Tuesday's second round resumed with a light drizzle in the sky that turned into a driving snow by the tournament's end.


Chris Seibel was out in front for TSU, shooting a 2-over-par 146 for the tournament. He recorded 1-over-par-73 in both rounds and finished in a three-way tie for fifth place.


In addition to Seibel’s fifth place performance, Ryan Smith finished the tournament with a 9-over-par 153 while Richard Gill recorded a 156 for TSU. After opening up the first round with a 1-over-par 73, Drew Bobo shot 84 in the final round to finish with a 13-over-par 157. Lawrence Larson tallied 167.

Central Arkansas captured the team title, sliding past first round leader Lipscomb by one stroke at 8-over-par 584. Behind Lipscomb in second was Murray State and Western Illinois in a tie for fourth. Host UT-Martin finished fifth.
