FRANKLIN, Tenn. --- The Tennessee State Tiger golf team captured the title among the field of NCAA Division I teams at the Lipscomb Fall Classic played at Temple Hills Golf Club which concluded Tuesday afternoon.
The Tiger golfers fired a 36-hole total of 590, shooting a 292 on the first day and following with a 298 on Tuesday, a day that saw heavy rain fall at times in the Nashville area. The Tigers finished six shots ahead of Butler University’s 596.
The Tigers placed four of the team five golfers in the top five. Mark Searle and Stu Michaels each had a 147 to finish in a third place tie. Robert Dinwiddie and freshman Fraser Inglis each had a 148 for a tie for fifth place. Jordan Roberts rounded out the TSU lineup with a 162.
Host Lipscomb finished third nine strokes behind the Tigers with a 599, followed by Tennessee-Martin 606, and Morehead State 622.
The tournament was played on the par-72, 6,831-yard course.
TSU will conclude the fall portion of its schedule in a tournament to begin Nov. 9 in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
