TUSCOLA, Ill. ---The Tennessee State golf team will look forward to returning to full strength when it competes in the Temple Hills NCAA Division I Collegiate Invitational next week after being hampered by a key injury in its last outing.
Playing in Eastern Illinois’ Ironhorse Intercollegiate, the Tigers’ Stu Michaels was forced to withdraw in the first round due to a back injury. The tournament was played in the wind and cold on the par-72, 6,785-yard Ironhorse course.
Without Michaels, the Tigers recorded a 14th place finish in the 15-team field. The Tigers did have a second-place finish by Mark Searle who fired a three-round score of 216. Robert Dinwiddie posted another top 10 finish with a 223. Jordan Roberts fired a 243 and Matthew Muller had a 255 to account for TSU’s other scores.
TSU will now turn it attention to playing in town next week. Lipscomb University will serve as host for the tournament. The 36-hole tournament begins Monday.
