Cross Country Readies for UTC Twilight

WOMEN (4K) 6:30 p.m. | MEN (4K): 7:00 p.m.

STARTING LINE: Tennessee State cross country will hit the trails Sept. 13 in nearby Chattanooga, Tennessee, to compete in the UTC Twilight Friday evening. The meet is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. with the women's 4K followed by the men's 7K at 7:00 p.m. Results will be posted online following the race.

ABOUT THE TEAMS: The women's team returns after a great showing from Rebekah Wynn, who led the Tigerbelles in the Belmont Opener to kick off the cross country season along with newcomer Hope Haley, who finished her first cross country meet in 26:28. 

Junior Thomas Mosley posted the top time for the Tennessee State men’s cross country team at the Belmont Opener at Percy Warner Park. The Flying Tigers placed 9th overall with 255 points led by Mosley's 46th place finish in 17:22 in the 5K. Sophomore John Frierson turned in a time of 18:56 for 62nd place with freshman Jacob Miller kicking off his career in blue and white with a time of 17:30 – good for 66th overall.

THE FIELD: The men's field has 10 schools: Chattanooga, Tennessee State, Alabama State, Cleveland State, West Georgia, William Carey, Montevallo, Emory, Lee and Oglethorpe.

The women's field has 12 schools: Chattanooga, Tennessee State, Alabama State, Alabama A&M, Georgia State, Cleveland State, West Georgia, William Carey, Montevallo, Emory, Lee and Dalton State.

UP NEXT: TSU heads to Cookeville, Tennessee, to compete in the Austin Peay Cross Country Festival at the Eastland Green Golf Course, Sept. 21.
