Austin Peay Cross Country Festival up next for TSU

Location: Hilldale Family Life Center – Clarksville, Tenn.
Time: MEN – 9 a.m.  /  WOMEN – 9:45 a.m.
Distance: MEN – 4 Miles  /  WOMEN – 5K

STARTING LINE: The Tennessee State men’s and women’s cross country teams will travel to nearby Clarksville, Tenn. for the Austin Peay Cross Country Festival on Saturday, Sept. 22. Saturday will mark the third competition for the cross country teams this fall. The men will run a four-mile race at 9 a.m. with the women’s 5K starting at 9:45 a.m.

LAST TIME OUT: TSU is coming off last Saturday’s action at the Commodore Classic at Percy Warner Park in Nashville. Led by Rebekah Wynn (176th – 23:24.1), the Tigerbelles placed 19th. For the men, Larry McNary (127th – 29:49.5) was the top finisher in TSU’s 14th-place team finish.

AT LAST YEAR’S EVENT: The Tigerbelles and Flying Tigers both placed seventh in their respective races at last year’s Austin Peay Cross Country Festival. The top performers on the day were Larry McNary (31st – 20:38.3) and Marcus Abdul (37th – 21:00.3) in the men’s four-mile race and Rebekah Wynn (18th - 19:58.3) in the women’s 5K.  

UP NEXT: TSU heads to Owensboro, Ky. for the Fast Cats Classic on Oct. 6. The men’s team will compete in the 8K at 9:30 a.m. with the women running a 5K at 10 a.m.
